The Social Media Intern
will play an active role in growing and maintaining PIH Health’s online community. The intern will support the Communications and Public Relations Coordinator with creating and publishing social media content that is relevant to PIH Health’s target audiences, and will work closely with the Coordinator on a day-to-day basis. This position is responsible for helping to build, conceptualize, manage and implement PIH Health’s social media program across all channels including but not limited to: Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, YouTube, LinkedIn, and PIH Health’s blog

and more. This individual must understand the functionality of each social media platform in relation to business, i.e., content development, production and posting; running ads; boosting posts, maximizing engagement, targeting audiences and more. The intern is responsible for coordination of photography for social media projects. This individual will also analyze and report social media efforts, results and return on investment. This position will require traveling to PIH Health hospital campuses, Medical Office Buildings, satellite offices and within the community.
Dependable person with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Must have knowledge of social media, marketing and public relations tactics, with the desire to continue to learn.
Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to interact and work effectively with all audiences.
Must possess ability to organize, plan daily activities and demonstrate initiative with minimal supervision and to complete projects under pressure of deadlines.
Must be able to handle numerous tasks simultaneously and work well in a fast-paced environment.
Must have the ability to learn quickly and follow through on projects—be a self-starter.
Must have basic understanding of the local, regional and national media markets.
Must have an understanding of social media channels and executing messaging across multiple platforms including but not limited to: Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, YouTube, online blogs and more.
Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to meet and work pleasantly and effectively with a variety of professionals at all levels within the organization as well as with patients and community members.
Basic understanding of collateral production: feature writing, social media writing, ad writing, and press release writing.
Knowledge of interviewing and story development research methods.
Ability to present a clear flow of information with one voice representing the brand.
Strong editing and organizational skills.
Keen eye for choosing the right angle when taking photographs.
Adheres to all privacy laws.
Detail oriented and highly organized.
Must be in at least third (3rd) year towards earning Bachelor’s Degree in Public Relations, Journalism, Communications or Marketing or a related field. Proof of completed or in-progress coursework is required.
Familiarity with all major social media platforms.
Have own vehicle and maintain a current California Driver’s License and proof of insurance.
Bachelor’s Degree in Public Relations, Journalism, Communications, Marketing or other related discipline.
Professional social media experience.
Previous healthcare experience.
